Our Mission

Serving grades five through twelve in the Flatbush community, Fahari Academy Charter School educates, supports, challenges, and trains scholars for success in college.

Why Fahari Academy?

Fahari is the Swahili word for pride. Our School prides itself on academic intensity, which we frequently assess to ensure we are providing a competitive college preparatory experience. The joy in Fahari comes from ownership, from parents, students, and educators alike being able to see that their participation translates into the personalization of their experiences. Fahari Academy has the expectation of participation for everyone in the learning community-leaders, educators, students and parents. Every voice is heard, every thought is expressed and everybody is valued. In our culture of mutual accountability every member of the Fahari Academy academic community enforces and espouses the character values essential to success-Perseverance, Respect, Independence, Discipline, Excellence.

When a child is asked to share something personal in advisory and everyone is listening, they will learn that Fahari also belongs to them. The fifth grade at Fahari Academy is the beginning of a crescendo in life, where personalities and character grow loud and clear if students are given the appropriate platform. Each grade from the onset of adolescence to the beginning stages of adulthood is important. Fahari Academy recognizes this both academically and socially by providing an academic climate necessary for students to flourish and grow into expressive young adults, with P.R.I.D.E.

Our Students Will Display Pride By:

  • Meeting or exceeding our high standards in a structured academic environment
  • Taking pleasure and satisfaction in their school and their own education as demonstrated through regular attendance, consistent preparation and professional decorum
  • Their model behavior while in their communities and as representatives of their communities upon graduation from college.
